A few days ago I went to the most badass Brand New show. I know you're probably think "Brand New? Really? Weren't they the ones who sung about slitting your wrists back in 7th grade?" The answer is yes, but the truth is, I have loved them ever since middle school and I honestly can't stop day dreaming about that show. I had seen them once before in Portland back in 07, and I remember that was my very first mosh-pit experience, my first "rock show" and I remember it being amazing but not anything like what I experience a couple nights ago. Granted they did have TWO opening bands (talk about doozy) and they DID end up getting on stage after an hour wait. Still, they opened with 'Sowing Season (yeah)' which could not have been more perfect. It as sold out so there were a shit ton of people, I got stepped on by sassy drunken people, ended up falling onto a ton of sweaty drunk dudes, but still the crowd was epic. Every single person in the room was jumping up and down, dancing, not singing but SCREAMING every single lyric to every single song. It was truly....epic. I eventually got to the very very front by the time encore came around which was perfect because I got to hear Socco Amaretto Lime close up and personal. :) I am pretty sure that is the most amazing feeling of euphoria that I have ever felt thus leading me to have my eyes closed almost the entire time because I was so into it. All in all, no matter how old Jesse Lacey is, how shitty his voice is getting, how old I am, I will always love Brand New and if you haven't experienced one of their shows, I suggest you do it asap.
I didn't record any videos but these are ones I found on Youtube of the exact show I went to at the Regency Ballroom in SF.
This was the encore, in which I was right up front for. <3
Them performing my FAVORITE song at the show I went to. SO FUCKING GOOD.
Sic Transit Gloria! Completely lost my voice on this one.
Epic. Seventy times 7
I cant find a clip of them performing this, but this was the song they opened with! Sowing Season (yeah)
Anyway, I am done being a freak fan girl for now.
I remember you and your love for Brand New :)
